Pulp Fictioned

Pulp Fiction - 1994
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/

Fact can be stranger than fiction – this movie goes against the trend. My favorite from Quentin Tarantino’s works (which includes Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Desperado), this movie carves its cult. Quentin weaves magic again through the medium of a Movie. He builds the various chemistries between characters with long drawn scenes, extracting a 100% of their ability to emote and deliver lines which are truly Tarantino’s trademark. I hope I can meet this guy.

This film is absolutely revolting to the normal Hollywood RomCom – Jackie Chan types. Watching it with your family is the worst thing you can subject them to. I have seen it thrice and I wish to see it again. On a repeatability scale, it ranks high up with The Departed. The dialogues are brilliant, expletives and all of which there are tons in this film. The best concept of the film is the shifted time lines. It leaves you guessing and wandering in different directions and following characters, some of which will become your favorites. My favorite was Vincent Vega. Travolta burns a solid impression of Vega. You feel sorry for the guy who has to take out the Boss’s wife for a date – its not a date according to him cause if it were then the Boss will….see it yourself.

Every cast member is a perfect fit for the characters – Samuel L Jackson, Bruce ;Willis, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Quentin with his expected cameo in all his films all are just perfect. Can’t think of anyone else playing anything. I am in love with the character of Fabienne.

See it, see it full. See it even if at some scene your reaction can be nausea or pure horror or disgust or anything that Tarantino might evoke – and he will evoke. Just keep your family out of the room.

Ajab Pu Ki Gajab Review

Review by Her Highness Ms.Pu

Ajab prem ki gazab kahaani has no kahaani in the first place .. its bout a no good fellow called prem who falls in love with jenny who is an orphan adopted into a christian family .. The first half has is somewhat funny and sweet when the two of them become friends . But in the second half the story takes wild twists and turns that fail to excite you or even amuse you.. A lame movie to be watched if you have excess cash and time or your bored to death.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb..

Total Human annihilation was never so hilarious! This is dark comedy at its best. The picture above is of a Bomber commander wearing a cow boy hat riding a nuke to its target, talk about hi tech guidance systems hehe. The satire maintained in this film never becomes farcical even for a moment. A great movie to see the works of Stan Kubrick and Peter Sellers. A must see to realize the importance of your bodily fluids ...

Amelie

The power of expression can change the world. A story can make you live an era, a picture can take you to different lands, a song can make you laugh or cry. Likewise a movie will let you live someone else’s life, albeit for some moments.

I have been captivated by some wonderful movies, one of which is ‘Amelie’. No wonder this movie was nominated to the Oscars (in 5 categories ) and won many European awards. A run of the mill story about a girl meeting the love of her life – in a fantastical script set in Paris, crafted with superb movie making. This movie blew me away with its creative usage of artistic tools like animation, metaphors (the garden Gnome photos from around the world! ), music and the consistent pleasant visual theme . More than anything, it takes me to a place I yearn to visit – Paris. This movie lets you into her small world. How she makes a big difference for everyone in that small world, touching aspects of people’s lives which result in fantastical outcomes, makes you realize reality should not be so complicated and sometime you need to look at it through the sepia tinted glasses that Amelie uses.

Audrey Tautou (who is also simply great in ‘Priceless’ BTW ) is just the cutest ‘pretty girl who lives on the 5th floor ‘. I reserve the next few lines for my favorite actresses playing my favorite characters – I wanna marry her!

Movie - Dostana

Movie - Donstana

Finally a Karan Johar movie which I was able to laugh throughout and not choke on senti - baazi. The movie starts with the usual plastic perfect location of Miami (really?) with picture perfect bods throughout the movie ( except for Boman Irani). The overall theme was - as you can guess pretend 'Happy' guys are in love with the very very lovely Priyanka Chopra. So who ends up winning her heart? In the process losing a lot of other things. Aishwarya just in case, I am there for you .....

Quite awkward watching it with 5 guys and 1 sporting girl in a theatre which was attended by almost everyone younger than me! My first tryst with mid - young adulthood crisis. Just for the record, our group out classed any college kid in that hall who could whistle, cat call or pass colorful comments whenever Ms.Chopra did something worth commentable. The screen was too far away, or I was sure we would have danced in front of it when 'Ma da Ladla' played - exaggeration OK, but sure did that in our seats!

It was great letting my hair down like this, quite a memorable movie ! Enjoy, without your parents of course. And just for the record, I am totally behind baby log ha...
